VBF-3 is a powerful, efficient and most state-of-the-art antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal nutraceutical. The first ingredient, Lauric Acid, is a monoglycerol ester of the fatty acid laurate. Laurate fatty acids contain 12 carbon atoms, present in many animal and plant sources, and possess wide spectrum, anti-infective activity against lipid-coated viruses, bacteria and fungi. Lauric Acid is normally found in breast milk and is present in order to keep viruses out and to protect the infant before it's own immune system is fully developed. Beta-1,3 D-glucan (Beta-glucan) is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (carbohydrate) which is a major structural component of the cell wall structures of yeast, barley and oat. The polyglucose chain of Beta-glucan acts as a non-specific immune system activator that is acid-resistant, thus its structure remains intact despite the exposure to stomach acid. The Beta-glucan is absorbed, unaltered, through the intestinal mucosa in order to activate macrophages and NK (Natural Killer) cells of the immune system. Since there is a significant amount of lymphoid tissue and resultant macrophage population in the intestinal tract, Beta-glucans activate the intestinal macrophages, promote the release of cytokines, Interleukin-1, Interleukin-2 and Interferon, which collectively provide protection in the bowel and throughout the entire lymphatic system. Beta-glucans are pharmacologic agents that enhance host resistance to a variety of biological insults (i.e., viruses, bacteria, parasites, etc.) via specific mechanisms which involve macrophage/monocyte activation for the immunologic cascade. The broad spectrum immunopharmacological properties of the Beta-glucans exhibit significant anti abnormal growth activity via the enhanced activation of macrophages, T-Cells, B-Cells and NK cells and enhance the tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF). Finally, the incidences of hospital pneumonia and sepsis cases have been shown to be significantly reduced with the addition of Beta-glucan to patient protocols.
